Baby’s First Day Midwifery Services
This is your place for wellness through pregnancy, labor, birth, and postpartum. Whether you are planning on a natural child birth or simply considering your birth options, April, our certified professional midwife can help you achieve the birth of your dreams. April affirms the power and strength of women. April honors and promotes the normalcy of conception, pregnancy, labor, birth, and breast feeding.
For the vast majority of women pregnancy, labor, birth, and breast feeding are all normal healthy events in their lives. Prenatal care at Baby’s First Day focuses on enhancing the health of the mother and therefore the health of the baby. Much time is spent discussing nutrition, exercise, and emotional well being. Pregnancy should be a time of joy, health, and vitality. Healthy pregnancy and birth need our respect, patience, and understanding and not our intervention.
April’s education and experience truly set her apart. April is a uniquely qualified midwife due to her vast experience with both home and hospital birth. She brings nearly two decades of experience to every birth. April has helped over 3,100 mothers bring their baby’s into the world. April holds both a bachelors and masters degree in nursing. She worked as a labor and delivery nurse at Sunrise Hospital from 2000 through 2004. Upon completing her masters degree, April began working as a certified nurse-midwife at St. Rose Hospital. April introduced many natural birthing options to the hospital including water birth, birth stools, and intermittent monitoring. Upon opening her home birth practice April became certified through the North American Registry of Midwives as a Certified Professional Midwife. While the overwhelming majority of births are completely normal and require no intervention, April’s extensive experience in medicine gives her confidence in any situation.
Education is an integral part of prenatal care. April offers a great deal of information at every prenatal visit. She also refers families to child birth education courses. Classes include Hypnobirthing, Bradley Method, Lamaze, Birthing From Within, Hypnobabies, and more. April also has many long standing relationships with OB/GYNs, perinatologists, pediatricians, doulas, chiropractors, and massage therapists. Their services are readily available and often enhance the pregnancy, birth, and postpartum experience.
April has an extensive background in maternity care and offers compassionate, individualized attention to your pregnancy. Whether you are planning a water birth, vaginal birth after cesarean section (VBAC), or the birth of your first baby April can help you achieve a safe, happy, healthy, BIRTHday for your new baby.
